Posting Tool YouTube

Not cookies. YouTube is a Google Allow screen. Run setup_youtube_auth.py, click Allow. If the token expires later, run Allow again.

What it posts

Posts the video and caption from your inbox to a YouTube channel you own, after you complete the Google Allow step.

Who it is for

People who own a YouTube channel and want to post from their machine.

What you need before connect

  • A Google / YouTube account you own.
  • The project folder cloned. Settings copied from the sample file.
  • Put your Google client id/secret into config.json if the README asks for them.
  • YouTube is OAuth, not cookies. No Business-account rule.

How you connect

YouTube is a separate OAuth step. It does not use the browser login helper.

python3 setup_youtube_auth.py

A browser opens. Choose your Google account and click Allow.

You should see the script finish without an error, and a token file appear under tokens/.

Everyday use

Drop a video and a matching .json sidecar into inbox/ (same base name). Run ./posting_tool_go.command or python3 schedule_batch.py dispatch. Do not run two dispatches at once. Check posted/ or failed/ + screenshots.

Beginner walkthrough: Setup guide → Everyday use.

Limits / account-type warnings

The Google token can expire. If YouTube stops working, run python3 setup_youtube_auth.py again and click Allow. Never paste token files into email or an AI.
